Jesolo Lido is a purpose-built resort close to Venice that attracts hordes of holidaymakers every summer. It has a 16 km beach that is divided into different concessions or bathing areas and a small town area where you’ll find restaurants, wine bars and other amenities.
As the resort is fairly self-contained, the other main attractions are the events that are held each summer, especially the annual sand sculpture festival in June/July and the Frecce Tricolori air show and fireworks in August. The nightlife - pubs, clubs and late-night bars - is lively and attracts a young crowd.
For families, the Aqualandia theme park will be a big draw, especially as it features both the highest waterslide and the highest bungee jumping tower in the world. Its other attractions include a circus, a climbing wall, a pirate ship and inflatable rafting. Elsewhere in Jesolo, mini golf and children’s cruises are also on hand to help entertain the kids.
The main excursion is likely to be a trip to Venice, where there are more than enough sights to fill a day there. The Basilica di San Marco, Palazzo Ducale and the Gallerie dell’Accademia are among these. You can also visit the islands of the Venice Lagoon - Murano, Burano and Torcello - by boat.
